State of Maine Safety Standard states that maximum safe soil levels for Mercury is 300 nanograms per cubic meter. Therefor, it would take 16,667 cubic meters of soil to safely contain all the Hg in 1 CFL @ 5 milligrams. There are approximately 5 billion light sockets in North America. Ultimately we will be disposing of billions & billions of "Mercury Bombs."
